Fact-checking

Misinformation is a threat to democracy, society, the economy and individuals. Misinformation jeopardizes public trust in the media and endangers freedom of the press and freedom of expression.

To contribute to the dissemination of this new European programme, over the next few months, workshops will be organized in which our European partners will present the topics that will be studied in depth in the various modules of this online course

The first workshop will take place on November 25th and 26th on the premises of Cenjor’s (Centro Protocolar de Formação Profissional para Jornalistas) [ Professional Training Centre for Journalists] and will focus on media business models, especially in digital contexts, and the extent to which these models are a guarantee of independence and impartiality of the media.

The remaining workshops will be organized in the first half of 2022. The topics covered will be: social networks and fake news, the role of influencers, advanced digital technologies, and European legislation to combat disinformation*.
