Manuel Pinto

Manuel Pinto obtained a PhD in Communication Sciences at the University of Minho in 1996. He is a Full Professor at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho, where he teaches Journalism Studies and Media Literacy. He is the Director of the PhD programme in Communication Sciences at the University of Minho.

He has conducted research on Media Literacy, Media Sociology, and Communication Policies. He coordinated the Portuguese team that participated in the European project EMEDUS (European Media Literacy Education Study) funded by the European Commission. He is an elected member of the General Council of the University of Minho and has been a member of the Independent General Council of RTP (Portuguese public radio and television broadcaster) since 2014.
