ABOUT US
MILObs is an Observatory on Media, Information and Literacy that follows, monitors and disseminates what is done in the field of Media Education in Portugal and abroad, while promoting Media Literacy in the different sectors of society.
The project began in 2012 with a Cooperation Protocol signed between the Communication and Society Research Centre of the University of Minho and what was then the Office for the Media. Its origin is, however, symbiotically linked with the setting up of the Informal Group on Media Literacy – GILM (See Partners).
Following a pause and a period of preparation, MILObs was publicly launched on 6th July 2018. The MILObs site was developed within the framework of the UID/CCI/00736/2013 project, funded by COMPETE: POCI-01-0145-FEDER-007560 and by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia [Foundation for Science and Technology] (FCT) and is currently supported by the UIDB/00736/2020 project, funded by FCT.
